Directed by Geneviève Leduc and Mariane McGraw - An Axis Films production (Montréal, Québec)
Ghost Highway is a documentary that travels through the life and times of classic pioneer ghost towns along Hwy. 13 - the Red Coat Trail - in southwestern Saskatchewan.
Shot in September, 2002, this movie explores the once booming towns, such as Robsart, Scotsguard, Ravenscrag and Senate, and show the remains of what they are today.
We meet several people who still try, in one way or another, to preserve the memory of this vanishing history. History books have been written, unmarked graves have been identified, but still the essence of what made those towns so special and so alive is disappearing, just like the ones who have the knowledge to share what they were.
Ghost Highway is a testimony given by those who work to keep the memory alive. It is also a portrait of the ghost towns mysterious beauty and sad scenery. It explores the thin line between those who live in the past and the ones who try to learn from it.
