This area map was extracted from the Cornwall Township map that was published in Belden's Historical Atlas dated 1879.

The map clearly shows both the "Old" and "New" Mille Roches with the Cornwall Canal cutting through both parts of town. The town's main road was severed and cut off during construction of the canal. Both sections of the town continued to function until the end.

Note the spelling of Hooples Creek as "Hoopoles". Whether this was a simply a misspelling or one of the many variations of Hooples is impossible to say.
