A piece of mine machinery lays in the barren townsite.
A water wheel in the forest near Lille's Number 1 Mine, probably used to help power mine operations. Note the coal slag in the background.

The mountains of the Crowsnest Pass offer a breathtaking backdrop to the barren former townsite of Lille, survived only by a pair of century-old fire hydrants.
This fire hydrant was close to the homes of Lille's wealthy residences.

Both of Lille's two remaining fire hydrants are showing signs of vandalism.
Today, there is very little evidence of the former community on the old townsite, except for a few foundations, metal from the mine, a few bricks and scraps of wood. However, two sturdy fire hydrants still stand on the old townsite, partially damaged. But when one considers the consistent human traffic over the past century, the fire hydrants have preserved remarkably well.
