Anthracite...3
The Anthracite wheel, located off a ski trail in alpine forest about two kilometres northeast of the old mine site, is believed to be designed by prospectors for the Canadian Anthracite Coal Company, using an idea from a pioneer Russian-made Horse Whim.

The primitive mining equipment was used in Russia in the late 1890s and was powered by horses. It's believed the local prospectors used the Horse Whim at the site in 1914 for a 30-day period.

The Wheel is now a favourite spot for woodpeckers, and a unique conversation piece for rare hikers who pass it by in the forest. It is one of the last remaining mining artifacts of Anthracite. There is no historical marker of any kind.
